Weekend Party Assistants/Helpers
Party Leader/Area Manager
Event Mechanic
General Mechanic/Engineer

Party Assistants / helpers

Perfect for those that have some time available over the weekend and want to earn some extra money as well as having some fun.

We always need extra pairs of hands – either to help set up and take down a party and to assist the person running the party (the Party Leader). The  task is usually to operate the PA system and to help disentangle the jeeps when the drivers bump into the sides or each other!  The parties are generally weekends, ups to two a day and can be anywhere from Surrey to London to Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Herts and so on, but the base is near Henley on Thames.

During the warmer months we also attend big events – we’ve been known to be at Silverstone, Motorfest, Festival of Wheels, Carfest and so on.  We might take the Jeeps, our battery karts, Suzuki Quads, or our amazing grass karts – it all depends on the event.  Some events are overnight – which is why we have a huge double deck artic lorry, complete with living quarters, workshop and garage. Home from home!

During the Summer – a lot of the events are outdoors – so if you don’t like the outdoors and all that that entails this isn’t for you! You will need your own transport to get to the HQ – as it is not served well by public transport, and there is plenty of secure parking available once at the HQ.

The pay is commensurate with age and experience, and is variable depending on the event type and location.

If this sounds interesting then please do get in touch!

Party Leader / Area Manager – SURREY / SW London

We are looking for a personable, presentable and capable Event Leader to run some of our events and parties for us. This will include driving the equipment to an event – arriving in good time (we don’t do late), liaising with the client/organiser, setting up and then running the event. Depending on the size of the event this might well include managing staff. At very big events the duties will be to assist the Event Director, and deputise when he is offsite. On some instances there may be overnight stays required. Most events are weekends (some also include Fridays, but rarely).

What are our events?

Primarily you will be involved in children’s parties, which take 30 minutes to set up, last for an hour and a half, and take 30 minutes to pack away. There’s usually only time to do 2 parties in a day once travel is included. The parties are mainly indoors, but in the Summer months can also be outdoors.

You should be practical, and have a knowledge of – or a readiness to learn basic mechanics (at hardest  changing a fuse or swapping a motor – which is 2 screws, 1 nut, and 2 screws) – but problem solving skills and adaptability to the unknown is essential. You should be good with kids – and although not required by law for our events – should preferably be able to demonstrate DBS compliance, and have written references to suit. Good timekeeping is an absolute essential. Clean license preferable – unless you have your own 4×4/ big car in which case it would be handy if you could tow.  The work is quite physical at times (esp at set up and break down) – so to be quite fit is a bonus.

Selection will be by submission of CV, followed by interview and then those selected will have training on the job whilst in a probationary period. There is plenty of other work available in different areas of the business for the right candidate. Please email your cv to jobs@wackywheelers.co.uk

Event Mechanic

Do you enjoy visiting car shows and events around the country? At the events the karts need constant maintenance. Oil changes, filter changes, tuning,  brake adjustment, fuel filling  and other jobs. And exactly the same for the Quads. At the end of the day, all vehicles need detailed checks ready to go out the next day. Are you a petrol head that can work on engines?  Then talk to us!

General Maintenance Mechanic

Before an event we need to make sure all our kit is in tip top working order, ready to go out and work. The engines on the karts are not that different from a lawnmower engine – and they are pretty much all Honda engines.  Chassis need checking for cracks, filters, plugs and oil need checking/changing, chains and sprocket alignment and wear need checking – all that sort of thing. There may be some modifications needed too to make them operate more smoothly.

Are you a retired lawnmower engineer  or motor engineer that enjoys tinkering? We are very very flexible on workshop time so this job can fit around you. Interested? Get in touch!
